About Holli O’Donnell
I believe that change happens when you are given the support needed to draw on your own strengths and recognize your potential for growth and healing. Gaining a more complete understanding of yourself is the key to finding the most effective coping strategies. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental and empathetic environment for you to utilize your strengths to achieve your personal goals.
Training And Experience
I received my Master’s in Social Work from New York University and have spent over 25 years working in different settings to include residential treatment, partial hospital programs, community-based programs and outpatient therapy. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults with various emotional, behavioral and social needs providing trauma informed care through a strength-based approach.
My Approach
My experience has provided me with a framework for understanding the need to meet someone where they are, drawing from a variety of methodologies to create an individualized approach to treatment. I believe it is important to identify and change negative thought patterns, improve emotional regulation and utilize healthy coping strategies to help make lasting changes to enhance your life.
My goal is to build rapport and a trusting relationship. I have found when working with adolescents this is paramount, so they feel seen and heard. This helps them to open up and be able to express their thoughts and feelings more freely. This allows us to work together to understand what these thoughts and feelings mean and how to manage them more effectively.
Outside Of My Work
I live in the suburbs of Philadelphia with my husband and three children. I enjoy spending time outside exploring nature, especially the intricacies of trees. I like getting lost in a good book, taking pictures and spending time with my family and friends.
